my e prime moment

this encounter reminded me about what you were saying in class about the nicest people - until whatever trips them and they become so aweful and weird - you can't even believe it........

why were you yelling? what on earth is going on?

I was NOT YELLING...

i could hear you from the fourth floor waiting for the elevator.......that's pretty far away

i was NOT YELLING, i was trying to find out what was wrong with him (still yelling)
(not a very good method of inquiry but that's not mentioned at the time)

if someone could hear you from four flights away, someone might say you were yelling...
(is that eprime or maybe it's not - anyone?)

there's no need for yelling no matter what....can you please just calm down and try to be a more peaceful person - so we can talk about exactly what is happening?

I AM A PEACEFUL PERSON!
(
still yelling and flailing about)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

ordinarily I might have yelled (STOP YELLING!!!!!)

you need to stop yelling - I can't talk to you when you're yelling
which only causes more yelling about that there is not any yelling going on
(oblivious to the yelling - what is that?)

This would be a perfect case for TCM treatment and searching for the root of the illness because I'm pretty sure it is not the actual event that triggers the reaction but something deeper that actually has nothing to do with the situation - and needs to be discovered in partnership - with both the patient and the practitioner working together to find the problem.

Would you say to this person - you need to talk to your doctor about your anger - it may result in an illness that could suprise you. Or how would you say this in an eprime way? How will the doctor know about this if it isn't called to his or her attention and the patient is unaware or in denial that there is a problem deep within? It will probably manifest in another form.
